The best time to visit Guilin is during the spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October). These seasons offer mild temperatures and lower humidity, making it ideal for outdoor activities like sightseeing and cruising on the Li River. In spring, you can enjoy blooming flowers, while autumn brings stunning fall colors and clear skies, enhancing the breathtaking landscapes for which Guilin is famous.
We use comfortable 4-star hotels in the cities. In more remote areas like Dunhuang, we use the best available hotels which are usually 3-star quality.
Typical food in Guilin features a mix of rice dishes and local specialties, highlighting fresh ingredients and unique flavors. Key dishes include:
- Guilin Rice Noodles: A signature dish made with flat rice noodles served in a flavorful broth, often topped with pickled vegetables, peanuts, and meat.
- Yangshuo Beer Fish: Fresh fish cooked with beer and local spices, popular in the nearby Yangshuo region.
- Steamed Stuffed Buns (Baozi): Soft buns filled with meat or vegetables, commonly enjoyed as snacks.
- Sweet and Sour Mandarin Fish: A dish known for its crispy fish and tangy sauce.
- Li River Snails: A local delicacy often stir-fried with garlic and spices.
Guilin cuisine emphasizes fresh, local ingredients, making it a unique culinary experience.
