Spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) are the best seasons to visit Shanghai, with mild temperatures and comfortable weather.
Summers (June to August) can be hot and humid, while winters (December to February) are chilly.

Dress modestly and respectfully, especially when visiting temples or religious sites.
Chinese culture values personal space less than some Western cultures, so be prepared for closer proximity in crowded areas.

1. Be cautious of overfriendly strangers: Be wary of individuals who approach you with unsolicited assistance or invitations to tea houses, art galleries, or shops. They might be trying to scam or pressure you into making unnecessary purchases.

2. Research prices beforehand: Familiarize yourself with the general prices of goods, services, and attractions in Shanghai. This knowledge will help you recognize when you’re being overcharged or offered inflated prices.

3. Use licensed taxis or ride-sharing services: Stick to official taxis or reputable ride-sharing services like Didi. Avoid unmarked or unofficial taxis, as they might charge higher fares or take you on unnecessary detours.

4. Be cautious of counterfeit goods: Shanghai is known for its markets where you can find a wide variety of goods. However, be aware that some markets sell counterfeit products. Use your judgment and be skeptical of high-end brand items being sold at significantly discounted prices.

5. Verify ticket prices and authenticity: Purchase tickets for attractions or events from official sources, such as the venue’s official website or authorized ticket offices. Avoid buying tickets from street vendors or individuals claiming to offer discounted prices.

March to May (Spring): Temperatures range from 10°C (50°F) to 20°C (68°F) with occasional rain showers. Layered clothing is recommended.

June to August (Summer): The weather is hot and humid, with temperatures ranging from 25°C (77°F) to 35°C (95°F). It’s advisable to dress in lightweight, breathable clothing and carry an umbrella or hat for sun protection.

September to November (Autumn): Temperatures gradually cool down, ranging from 15°C (59°F) to 25°C (77°F). It’s a pleasant time to visit with less rainfall.

December to February (Winter): Winter in Shanghai is chilly, with temperatures ranging from 0°C (32°F) to 10°C (50°F). It can be windy, and occasional snowfall may occur. Dress warmly with layers, including a coat, hat, and gloves.

Yu Garden in Shanghai

The selection of activities and attractions was outstanding. I visited renowned sites such as the Bund, Yu Garden, and the Shanghai Museum, where the guide provided insightful commentary and ensured I had ample time to soak in the beauty and significance of each location. The inclusion of lesser-known spots, such as the French Concession and Tianzifang, allowed me to discover the city’s hidden charms and experience Shanghai like a local.
