Guiyang, the capital of Guizhou province. as the starting point of this ethnic tour, the city hosts over 30 minority ethnic groups including the Miao, Buyi, Dong, and Hui. Upon your arrival at the airport or railway station, you will be greeted by our local guides. They will assist you in settling into the hotel for a rest. After enjoying lunch, we will embark on a journey to Qingyan Ancient Town, situated in the southern suburb of Guiyang. Qingyan, one of the most renowned historical and cultural towns in Guizhou province, was originally established in 1378 as a military message transfer station and a garrison. The town is entirely built from stone, with numerous well-preserved relics that showcase the ancient architectural style. Spend a couple of hours exploring this fascinating town. In the late afternoon, return to your hotel to relax and unwind for the evening.

  • Begin our day after breakfast with a 2.5-hour scenic drive to the HuangGuoShu Waterfall. Being the largest waterfall in Asia, it stands some 74 meters(243feet) high and 81 meters(266feet) wide. We will allocate a coulple of hours for the tour at HuangGuoShu Waterfall. Here, you will marvel at the magnificent waterfall cluster, explore the mysterious Water-Curtain Cave, and admire the breathtaking Rhinoceros Pool. Often compared to a miniature Milky Way, Huangguoshu Waterfall stands 74 meters (243 feet) tall and spans 81 meters (266 feet) in width. As you walk along the path near the waterfall, you will reach the Water-Curtain Cave, where you can hear, see, and even touch the cascading waters.
  • Continue our travel to the Tianxingqiao Scenic Spot in the afternoon, located just 6 kilometers (3.7 miles) from Huangguoshu Waterfall. This scenic area is divided into three main attractions: Tianxing Cave, the Potted Landscape on Water, and the Stone Forest in Water. These spectacular natural landscapes, formed by the forces of nature, create a picturesque scene with water, rocks, forests, and caves blending harmoniously.   • Today, we will begin our morning with a 30-kilometer drive to visit the Dragon Cave near Anshun city. This area is renowned for its diverse karst geological landscapes, including caves, canyons, waterfalls, peaks, cliffs, rivers, stone forests, funnels, and underground rivers. The Dragon Cave is considered the best scenic spot for experiencing the karst topography in all its glory, earning it the nickname "the world of karst".
  • After exploring the Dragon Cave, we will continue our journey back to Guiyang, making a stop at Tianlong Old Han Village. The residents of this village maintain a way of life reminiscent of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). They wear traditional Ming-style clothing and speak the language used during that period. This is not a reenactment, but their genuine daily life. Tianlong Old Han Village is unique in China for preserving the living customs of the Ming Dynasty. The stone houses in the village feature complex hidden tunnels and exits, reflecting the architectural ingenuity of that era.

  • Today, we will drive to Kaili and begin our village tour with a visit to Matang Village, inhabited by the Gejia people. The Gejia are known for their distinctive festal clothing, which resembles ancient warrior attire. They have a deep reverence for the bow and arrow, and according to legend, their ancestor was a hero capable of shooting the sun with these weapons.
  • Later, we will visit Langde Long-Skirt Miao Village, which is rich in national culture and often considered a living museum of Miao people culture. This picturesque village is surrounded by mountains and rivers, featuring wooden stilt houses, winding mountain paths, and the well-preserved Wind and Rain Bridge. Most of the wooden buildings in the village were constructed between 1616 and 1911, offering a glimpse into the architectural heritage of the region.

  • After breakfast, we will drive for about two hours to Rongjiang. Our first stop will be at ShiQiao Village of the Miao People, renowned for its traditional papermaking techniques using tree barks. This ancient craft offers a unique insight into the ingenuity and heritage of the Miao people.
  • Continuing our journey to Rongjiang, we will visit GaoYao Terrace, recognized as one of the top 10 most beautiful terraces in China. The terraced fields offer stunning, picturesque landscapes that showcase the harmony between agricultural practices and natural beauty.
  • Late in the afternoon, we will arrive in Rongjiang and proceed to CheJiang Village of Dong ethnic group. Here, we will explore the lifestyle of the Dong people, characterized by their rich cultural traditions and distinctive architecture. The main street of the village is lined with large, ancient Chinese Banyan trees, creating a serene and majestic atmosphere.
  • After our visit to CheJiang Dong people Village, we will stay overnight in Rongjiang. This day offers a rich tapestry of cultural experiences and breathtaking landscapes, highlighting the diverse heritage of the region.

  • After breakfast, we will drive to visit the Jiabang County Rice Terraces. This off-the-beaten-path destination in Guizhou is renowned for its vibrant and stunning terraced fields, considered among the most beautiful in China. The landscape, dotted with a few villages perched amid the terraces, offers breathtaking views that capture the essence of rural beauty and traditional farming practices. The distance from Rongjiang to Jiabang Terraces is around 80 kilometers (approximately 50 miles), which typically takes about 2-3 hours by car, depending on road conditions and traffic.
  • Next, we will continue our journey to the Congjiang Rice Terraces. These terraces are equally captivating, showcasing intricate patterns carved into the hillsides, creating a magnificent display of agricultural artistry. The interplay of light and shadow on the water-filled terraces adds to the scenic allure, making it a photographer’s paradise. The distance from Jiabang Terraces to Congjiang Terraces is approximately 50 kilometers (about 31 miles), usually taking around 1.5-2 hours by car.
  • In the late afternoon, we will head back to Congjiang for an overnight stay. This day promises a unique and visually captivating experience, highlighting the natural splendor and cultural richness of the region.

  • In the morning, we will drive about 40 kilometers to visit ZhanLi Village, another settlement of the ethnic Dong people. Here, it is customary for couples to have two children, one girl and one boy. Remarkably, there are virtually no families with two girls or two boys. The villagers attribute this phenomenon to the mystical Huanhua herb, believed to ensure that a family with a boy will next have a girl, and vice versa.
  • After exploring ZhanLi Village of Dong people, we will head to BaSha Village of Miao people, famously known as the last gunmen's tribe in China. Almost all adult male villagers here possess a blunderbore for hunting. The male villagers also wear distinctive hairstyles, considered the most ancient style still in existence in China.
  • Our journey continues to ZhaoXing, an ancient town renowned for having the largest settlement of Dong people in Guizhou province. During your visit, you will see numerous wooden-piled dwellings standing side by side, as well as charming Drum Towers that are central to Dong culture. After exploring this vibrant town, we will stay overnight at a local hotel here in ZhaoXing.

  • Today, the highlight of our journey is the Longji Rice Terraces, also known as the Longsheng Terraced Fields. These terraced fields were first cultivated by the Zhuang people during the Yuan Dynasty and further expanded during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The fields span the entire mountain slopes, winding from the riverside up to the mountaintops. The terraces drop from an elevation of over 880 meters (about 2,900 feet) at the highest point to 380 meters (1,247 feet) at the lowest. Please be prepared for some moderate climbing and wear comfortable walking shoes to fully enjoy the experience.
  • After exploring the Longji Rice Terraces, we will visit the Yao People's Village in Longsheng. The Yao ethnic minority is known for its rich cultural heritage and distinctive customs, including their colorful traditional dress and unique architectural style.

  • After breakfast at your hotel, transfer to Zhujiang Pier (about 40 mnutes driver) to embark on a Li River cruise. As the cruise sets sail, we start to enjoy breathtaking views of karst mountains, picturesque villages, and lush bamboo groves. The whole cruise trip lasts approximately 4-5 hours, covering around 83 kilometers (52 miles) from Guilin to Yangshuo. Along the way, all visitors are astonished by its stunning karst landscape, characterized by steep, verdant limestone peaks that rise dramatically from the riverbanks. These formations create a surreal and otherworldly backdrop. Hence the name: "a hundred miles of picturesque landscape".
