  • Upon arrival in Guilin, our local guide and driver will meet you upon landing. Drive to check into the hotel for a rest.
  • Afternoon visit to the famous Elephant Hill (Xiangbishan) in Guilin. It stands approximately 55 meters tall (around 180 feet). As one of the most iconic landmarks in Guilin, the hill is named for its resemblance to an elephant drinking water from the Li River, which flows nearby. The hill's distinctive shape and its picturesque setting make it a popular destination for visitors to Guilin.
  • Then, we drive to climb the DieCai Mountain in the city. with an elevation of approximately 214 meters (702 feet) above sea level. It is renowned for its striking karst peaks, lush greenery, and scenic views of the Li River. The name "Diecai" translates to "Folding Colored" or "Layered Colors," which refers to the colorful layers of rocks and foliage that adorn the mountain.At the summit of Diecai Mountain, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of Guilin city and the surrounding karst landscape. There are also several caves and rock formations to explore, offering a glimpse into Guilin's natural beauty.

  • In the morning, after breakfast, you will have a private transfer for about 40 minutes to Zhujiang Pier to board the Li River cruise. The river trip will last for approximately 4 hours, allowing you to explore the breathtaking Karst limestone formations.
  • During this 84-kilometer journey, you'll be treated to dazzling scenery that will overwhelm your eyes, resembling a vast Chinese painting. You’ll see the river winding like an emerald belt through the beautiful limestone karst mountains, fascinating countryside views, and iconic scenes such as the rock formation known as "A Painting of Nine Horses." Additionally, you'll see the bamboo forest set against a backdrop of mountain rocks, famously depicted on the back of the 20 RMB note of Chinese currency.
  • A simple local Chinese lunch will be served onboard, and snacks will be available for you to enjoy during the cruise. This scenic cruise trip on the Li river certainly offers an unforgettable experience on this China trip.
  • You'll disembark in Yangshuo Town in the early afternoon and then check into your hotel. The rest of the day will be at your own leisure. After a short break, you may either stroll through West Street, enjoying a beer, or bargain with local shop owners for souvenirs.
  • Optional Activity (at an extra cost): Head to the Yulong River for a bike ride to enjoy the river view and the rice paddies. The route takes you from Yangshuo to Jima to Shuiedi Dock to Gongnong Bridge and finally to West Street, lasting 1.5-2 hours. Alternatively, you may choose to relax and enjoy the classic bamboo rafting experience. Route A takes you from Shuiedi Dock to Gongnong Bridge for 40-50 minutes, while Route B takes you from Jima Dock to Gongnong Bridge for 1.5 hours.
  • Optional evening activity: Watch the splendid evening performance of Impression Liu Sanjie with the Li River itself as the stage, directed by the famous director Zhang Yimou. The performance usually lasts for about an hour and takes place between 19:45 and 22:20. Using the Li River and the mountains as the backdrop, the whole river and peaks are illuminated

  • Start your day with a leisurely morning in Yangshuo, allowing you to explore the town at your own pace. After a relaxed lunch, check out of the hotel and prepare for a scenic drive to the Longji Rice Terraces, approximately three hours away. This famous village near Guilin is renowned for its stunning natural landscapes, including the spectacular Longji Terraced Fields.
  • Upon arrival, we will check into a local hotel or guesthouse in the village, where we will spend the evening.
  • Important Notes: Ping'an Village: Elevation: Around 880 meters (2,890 feet). One of the most developed villages for tourism, located at the top of the terraces. The walk from the parking area to the village center is not long, but it does involve an uphill climb. The steps and uneven paths can be tiring, but manageable with luggage.
  • Dazhai Village: Elevation: Around 1,100 meters (3,609 feet). Known for its scenic viewpoints and hiking trails. The main parking area is at the bottom, requiring an uphill walk to the guesthouses and hotels. This climb is more strenuous than in Ping'an but still feasible with luggage.
  • Jinkeng Red Yao Village: Elevation: Around 800 meters (2,625 feet). A quieter, less touristy village located deeper into the terraces. The walk from the parking area can be longer and more challenging, especially with heavy luggage. There is also an option to take a cable car in this area. The distance from the parking area to the village centers can vary from a few hundred meters to over a kilometer, often involving steps. If you prefer not to carry your luggage uphill, many guesthouses and hotels offer luggage transfer services for a fee.
  • Tip: Pack light and bring only essential items for your stay in Longji to make managing your luggage easier during the climb.

  • Today, the highlight of our journey is the Longji Rice Terraces, also known as the Longsheng Terraced Fields. These terraced fields were first cultivated by the Zhuang people during the Yuan Dynasty and further expanded during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The fields span the entire mountain slopes, winding from the riverside up to the mountaintops. The terraces drop from an elevation of over 880 meters (about 2,900 feet) at the highest point to 380 meters (1,247 feet) at the lowest. Please be prepared for some moderate climbing and wear comfortable walking shoes to fully enjoy the experience.
  • After exploring the Longji Rice Terraces, we will visit the Yao People's Village in Longsheng. The Yao ethnic minority is known for its rich cultural heritage and distinctive customs, including their colorful traditional dress and unique architectural style.
  • In the afternoon, we will drive to Guilin, a city renowned for its stunning scenery of mountains and water. The journey will take approximately 3 hours, during which you will have the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful landscapes along the way, or just sit back and rest from the rice terrace hiking. Upon arrival in Guilin, we will check into our hotel. The remainder of the day is at your leisure to explore Guilin on your own.

  • Take a morning sightseeing to visit the landmark of Guilin and the Reed Flute Cave. the our guide and driver will take you to the airport or bullet train station for your ownward journey.
  • Elephant Trunk Hill: Our first stop in Guilin is the iconic Elephant Trunk Hill, which is the symbol of Guilin. This natural formation exactly resembles an elephant drinking water from the Li River. Explore the scenic area, enjoy the beautiful views, and learn about the cultural significance of this remarkable landmark.
  • Reed Flute Cave: Next, we will explore the Reed Flute Cave, known as the "Palace of Natural Art." This cave is famous for its stunning stalactites, stalagmites, and rock formations, all beautifully illuminated with colorful lights, creating a magical atmosphere. As you walk through the cave, admire the natural art formed over thousands of years and listen to stories and legends associated with the formations.

The best time to visit Guilin is during the spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October). These seasons offer mild temperatures and lower humidity, making it ideal for outdoor activities like sightseeing and cruising on the Li River. In spring, you can enjoy blooming flowers, while autumn brings stunning fall colors and clear skies, enhancing the breathtaking landscapes for which Guilin is famous.

We use comfortable 4-star hotels in the cities. In more remote areas like Dunhuang, we use the best available hotels which are usually 3-star quality. 

You can definitely hike the Longsheng Rice Terraces, with popular routes including Ping'an Village and Dazhai Village, both offering stunning views and cultural experiences. The best times to visit are in spring (April to June) when the terraces are lush and green, or autumn (September to November) when the rice turns golden. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes for the steep, uneven trails, stay hydrated, and consider hiring a local guide for a richer experience.

Guilin has a subtropical climate with mild winters and hot, humid summers. Spring (March to May) offers pleasant temperatures (15-25°C/59-77°F) and occasional rain, while summer (June to August) can be hot and humid (25-35°C/77-95°F) with the most rainfall. Autumn (September to November) is cooler and drier (15-25°C/59-77°F), making it ideal for visits, and winter (December to February) is mild but cooler (5-15°C/41-59°F). Overall, spring and autumn are the best times to enjoy comfortable weather and beautiful scenery.
