Welcome to Lanzhou, the gateway to Northwest China and the starting point of your Gansu journey! Upon arrival, your private guide and driver will meet you at the airport or train station and escort you to your hotel for check-in. After settling in, your evening adventure begins with a visit to Nanguan Ethnic/Nationality Favor Street(Nanguan Night Market), a lively night market known for its diverse local snacks and rich ethnic atmosphere. As you stroll through the vibrant pedestrian street, the air fills with the scent of sizzling lamb skewers, hand-pulled Lanzhou beef noodles, and sweet treats from Hui and Muslim cultures.
You can enjoy dinner here at your own pace, pick up local souvenirs, or simply soak in the buzzing atmosphere. Afterward, return to your hotel for a restful night.

Stay in Lanzhou
After breakfast, depart from Lanzhou and journey through the scenic mountains toward Xiahe (approx. 4 hours). Your first stop is the renowned Labrang Monastery, one of the six great monasteries of the Gelugpa (Yellow Hat) sect of Tibetan Buddhism. As you walk among its golden-roofed halls, long corridors of prayer wheels, and chanting monks, you’ll feel deeply immersed in the spiritual essence of Tibetan culture. The monastery is also a place to witness Tibetan art, scriptures, and religious rituals up close. Enjoy a local lunch along the way.
Next, head to the picturesque Sangke Grassland, a vast alpine meadow where rolling hills, grazing yaks, and nomadic tents paint a postcard-worthy scene. In summer, wildflowers bloom under endless skies—perfect for photos or a gentle stroll.
Then continue to Hezuo for the night. Accommodations are comfortable with options for local dining and a relaxing evening.

Stay in Hezuo
Today, set off from Hezuo toward Diebu, with enriching stops along the way. Your first visit is Langmu Temple/Monastery(Langmusi), a tranquil town straddling the border between Gansu and Sichuan. Nestled in the mountains, this sacred Tibetan Buddhist site is surrounded by dramatic cliffs and prayer-flag-lined paths. As you explore the temples and listen to the rhythmic chanting of monks, you’ll sense a deep serenity and spiritual energy unique to this hidden gem.
Continue to the breathtaking Zhagana Scenic Area (nearly 2-hour drive), a remote Tibetan village set in a dramatic stone valley. Often described as a “natural rock city,” its towering cliffs, wooden homes, and terraced fields create a stunning and peaceful atmosphere.
Then, head to Diebu. Upon arrival, you will have a dinner featured hearty local Tibetan fare. In the evening, settle into your hotel, where you can relax and enjoy a quiet night in nature.

Departing from Diebu in the morning, today’s journey offers a feast of natural beauty and Tibetan culture. Your first stop is the serene Huahu Lake (Flower Lake), a gem set amidst the expansive Ruoergai Grasslands. Known for its seasonal blooms and mirrored waters, the lake is a haven for migratory birds and a favorite for photographers and nature lovers alike. Walking along the boardwalk, you’ll feel completely immersed in a quiet, dreamlike world of wetlands and wildflowers.
Next, continue across the boundless Ruoergai Grasslands(若尔盖草原), one of China’s most pristine highland meadows. Here, you’ll see grazing yaks, nomadic herders, and endless skies—a true Tibetan plateau experience.
In the afternoon, arrive at the awe-inspiring First Bend of the Yellow River (around 1-1.5 hours), where the river curves gracefully through the plains, creating a breathtaking panoramic view that’s especially stunning at sunset.
After a full day of scenic wonder, settle into your hotel in Tangke(唐克镇) for a peaceful evening.

Stay in Tangke
Depart from Tangke and begin your day with a journey into the spiritual heart of Aba Prefecture. Your first stop is the Waqie Pagoda Forest(瓦切塔林), a vast collection of white Tibetan stupas stretching across the hillside. The peaceful atmosphere, fluttering prayer flags, and soft chanting of locals create a deeply spiritual experience. It’s a great place to learn about Tibetan Buddhist culture and appreciate the region’s religious devotion.
Continue across the Hongyuan Grassland(红原草原), where endless green meadows meet open skies. Along the way, you’ll see grazing yaks and horses, and may even stop by local tents to experience nomadic life. This is a wonderful opportunity for photography and cultural encounters.
In the afternoon, explore the stunning Lianbaoyeze Scenic Area(莲宝叶则), known as the “Alps of the East.” With jagged peaks, pristine lakes, and hidden valleys, it’s a paradise for nature lovers and hikers. The area is steeped in Tibetan legend and offers dramatic, untouched landscapes.
After today’s tour, you’ll rest in the peaceful Tibetan town of Aba(阿坝县) tonight.

Stay in Aba
Today, you’ll embark on a scenic journey from Aba to Awancang Wetland (6 hours). Lunch will be arranged en route. The highlight of the day is a visit to the breathtaking Awancang Wetland(阿万仓湿地), one of the largest alpine wetlands on the eastern edge of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. Here, vast meadows meet winding streams and mirror-like lakes, forming a tranquil and surreal natural panorama.
As you walk along the wooden walkways or simply gaze out over the marshes, you may spot flocks of migratory birds, herds of grazing yaks, and the peaceful rhythm of Tibetan nomadic life. The wetlands are especially photogenic during the warmer months, with vibrant wildflowers in bloom and dramatic skies reflecting in the waters.
Then, we’ll return to Hezuo. Our private vehicle ensures a comfortable and safe ride through the highlands. After arriving in Hezuo, you’ll have time to relax at your hotel and prepare for the next leg of your journey.

After breakfast, you’ll visit the Milarepa Palace (Milarepa Palace Buddhist Temple, 米拉日巴佛阁), an important Tibetan spiritual landmark named after the revered Tibetan yogi and poet, Milarepa. This stunning white stupa rises against the backdrop of the highland skies and is a peaceful place to explore Tibetan Buddhist culture. Pilgrims often circle the pagoda clockwise, spinning prayer wheels and chanting mantras, which provides visitors a deeply immersive cultural experience. At noon, enjoy lunch and have some rest. Then, we’ll drive to Lanzhou. The scenic drive passes through grasslands and rolling hills, offering great photo opportunities.
In the afternoon, you’ll arrive in Lanzhou and check into your hotel. The evening is yours to relax or explore—consider taking a stroll along the Yellow River or revisiting local markets for some last-minute shopping. Your guide is on hand for any additional arrangements you may need.
